Veggie Burgers - Episode #6

Today we were joined in the kitchen by world-class photographer Kevin Winzeler.  If you noticed that the production value went up for today’s episode, you’d be correct. Kevin, fresh off a photo shoot with Real Salt Lake, stopped by to film and produce episode #6.

INGREDIENTS:

1 (15 ounce) can butter beans, drained
1 small onion, chopped
1 tablespoon finely chopped jalapeno pepper
1/2 cup Italian Style Bread Crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a medium bowl, mash butter beans. Mix in onion, jalapeno pepper, bread crumbs, egg, cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Divide into 4 equal parts, and shape into patties.

2. Fry on a hot skillet 3-4 minutes per side.

3. Assemble burger and dress with your favorite toppings.

Shout Outs

  • A special to thanks Kevin for filming and producing today’s episode.  I don’t feel worthy of his talent, we must have him back for a future episode.  Kevin, if I cook you a rack of baby back ribs, will you stop by the kitchen again?

Loved this! I have subscribed and look forward to lots more. I have “grandkoddos” as well and this is a great way to have them spend time in the kitchen with their Moms and Dads (and Grammie as well.) Thanks for the great recipe - I WILL try this :-)

    Hey Jason,

I tried them out tonight but with a few changes. ;) I couldn’t find butter beans so I used mayocoba instead. It looked similar on the can but when I opened it up they looked more like pinto beans. So I added some cilantro and made mexi-veggieburgers! LOL-I’ll have to try it again when I can find butterbeans.

Thanks again for the recipe. Now, how about something with chocolate?
